In 2010, Sheriff Jim O’Sullivan developed CTLT, a non-profit organization that offers programs such as “Aspire", "Be a Hero, not a Zero" and "STAR". These programs are mentoring programs designed for both male and female youth who live in the City of Chesapeake. These programs encourage community involvement while fostering a supportive and positive opportunity for youth to engage in various activities and projects. All these programs are designed to reassure the youth of their value and worthiness within their community.
Sheriff O’Sullivan’s CTLT organization involves leadership training from some of Chesapeake’s most successful citizens, as well as team-building concepts, positive reinforcement, and structured activities. These activities are centered on preparing youth to meet the challenges of tomorrow with the tools to make the right choices.
Our attempt will be to instill these core community values in each of these young people. It gives an opportunity for kids from all walks of life to fulfill their potential with the guidance of those who genuinely care and are willing to give their own time.
