STAR
Standing Tall Always Reaching
The STAR program, which stands for, Standing Tall Always Reaching, was established in 2009 by Sheriff Jim O’Sullivan. The STAR program works to instill the core values of professionalism, leadership, team-building traits, and community involvement in the youths of Chesapeake between the ages of 10 - 14. Each participant is assigned to a team with three specifically trained Deputy Sheriffs who have been carefully chosen and exhibit these core values.
Throughout the year, the STAR program participants in a variety of events:
- Feed the hungry
- Educational Field Trips
- Chesapeake Christmas Parade
If your child would like to join our program, you can download and fill out the pre-application. From the applications, a review committee will select the participants to join our program.
